Sunset

Hey guys! I've decided to start making Sam's animal friends, starting with her very first! For each animal I post, I will write a short story explaining how they met. This is Sunset, Sam's pet frog. She gets her name from her gorgeous orange and yellow coloring. Sunset can also make her self glow bright like a light bulb. She can actually temporarily or even permanently blind someone if she glows bright enough.



One day when Sam was 8, she was walking through the forest behind Uncle Mikey's house. A few months had passed since her parents died,, and she was still getting used to her powers. She decided to take a walk to blow off some steam, as the stress from her parents dying and everyone becoming afraid of her was getting to be a bit much. It had rained the previous night, so she was having some fun jumping in the puddles. She was totally abosorbed with her thoughts and jumping, that she almost didn’t hear a tiny voice call out to her, screaming “NO! Don’t step on me!!”

 

Sam jumped back in surprise. “H……hello? I-is…someone there?” She called back. “Down here!” Sam looked down at the small puddle she almost jumped in, to see a small tadpole staring at her. “Oh! Hello little one! I’m so sorry! I didn’t see you there!” She told the young pole. “What are you doing in this puddle? Shouldn’t you be at the pond?” The tadpole looked at her scared. “I was washed away during the storm last night, and got stuck in this puddle! Now it’s shrinking and if I don’t get out of it soon…”

 

“Don’t worry little one,” Sam replied, “you can come with me! Here.” Same puts the tip of a bottle of water down into the puddle. “Swim into this bottle.” The pole did as Sam asked, Swimming to safety inside the bottle. “There you go little one! Come on, you can stay with me! I’ll get you a big tank you can swim around in. How’s that sound?” “Better than that puddle that’s for sure. Thank you, uh miss…” “Samantha, but everyone calls me Sam. What’s your name?” “ I…..don’t have one yet, actually.” “Oh, Really? Hmmmm……How about…Sunset! Because you look like one!” The young pole looked up and smiled. “Yeah! Sunset! I like it!” Sam giggles. “I’m glad. Now,” Sam starts walking back to Mikey’s. “Let’s see if Uncle Mikey likes frogs!” She smiles. “And if not……Well, Too bad!” Sam and Sunset both start laughing as Sam walks out of the forest.
